How course projects can successfully prepare engineering students for capstone design projects

Abstract

This paper presents one methodology for successfully preparing engineering students for their senior design capstone projects. The preparation is carried out through effective handling of the project component in higher level courses. This is achieved by granting the students the freedom to select their own project topic and adopted technology while abiding with some general rules thus creating an experience similar to senior design capstone projects.
