Abstract

Participation of women in studying computing is an important issue to investigate. It is argued that culture and educational systems are among the factors that affect women participation in the IT field. Graphical educational environments and simulation games could be used to attract more girls to study computing. In this paper, we introduce Smart Lady Game (SLG) which is an online educational simulation game to attract young school girls to learn programming concepts using animations and games. The main goal of SLG is to raise awareness and introduce programming concepts through games which may raise the probability of improving women representation in computer science and related majors.
