Abstract

Tangible media is a type of medium that interacts with the user via physical elements controlled by digital data. The proposed tangible table can be used in educational, entertainment, and architectural setting. The proposed table has two main modes of operation; interacting with the user hand motion and holding or moving objects placed on the table. The main element of the proposed tangible table is an array of elevating blocks which are controlled by a linear actuator and microcontrollers. The blocks in the array interacts with the user's movement or changes in the surrounding environment based on the readings of the ultrasonic and pressure sensors placed on the table.
